Club Handicap TT Championship 19th August 7pm

Post by TheBlueFlash » Tue May 27, 2014 10:59 am

Lads - Do you think we should have wee TT championship ? What do you guys think?. Usually we would have a club 10 on a course somewhere but in keeping with the kind of rides we usually do - we could just do a sporting course and handicap it - maybe Cronberry as most of us have a "time" round there that we could use for handicapping ? If required we could even shorten it and do point to point?

I'm happy to organise if enough are interested?

Good idea. Count me as interested. Obviously Cronberry would be perfect for me.

Lads - the date is set for Tuesday the 19th August and instead of a dual-carriageway dash we'll be riding round Cronberry (the TT course not the Con-Berry to keep Ross happy)

Now - some great minds will be handicapping this - what would really help is for those who have never ridden it before to have a blast round (honestly) and get yourself a time that we can use (Ally, Jim, Pat?) - if not you will be at our mercy based on John and Ross's view on your likely form ;)

Looking forward to it already! Campag Superior will most likely be dusting and polishing his clipboard (makes a change from his puddin) as we speak and I'll talk to the guys in the café about staying open that night for post-race-midgie-free cup of tea?

I predict the winner will CGG followed by TbF

Sounds ideal. Haven't a clue how handicapping works, but I'm sure your hands are more than capable. Let me know if you want any help/hindrance.

I'll get a few runs round the circuit to give you's something to work with. However, with the new arrival due in the first week in August, the club TT may be my first ride that month! So please be nice when deciding how to handicap my time! :D

Right lads - the big night is fast approaching, we have a timekeeper (Campag Superior) and a photographer (Sanny) and a holder-upper (Kev). We now need to get down to the nitty gritty of the handicapping so I need your personal best for the Cronberry TT Circuit or the Conberry Full Circuit (up the avenue shortcut)

Here is the order of acceptance

1. A race time trumps everything unless your PB is set outside the race so if you have ridden the race - then expect your handicap time to be based on that unless you are honest enough to admit if its faster

2. Strava time unless you are honest enough to admit that your quickest time isn't on there

3. The time you tell me is our best - again honesty is key here :D - these times will be subject to scrutiny by Ross & The Swan where we will question your honesty just for the sake of it!

4. If you don't have a time - we will handicap it again based on The Swan and Ross's view of the proposed riders fitness!

Right - here are the people I expect to be riding - please let me know your time for handicapping by close of play on the 12th August

Ross Strachan 49.30
Steven Grier 55:20
Ronnie Todd 42:51
John Dunlop 42:49
Craig Gilmour 45.30
John Gilmour 51:30

Marc Anderson 44:54
Tony Scott 45:10
Ally Hume 54:50
Jim Sutherland 51:15
Jim Gladwell 47.00
Steve Wright 47.00
Colin Jagodowski 53.27
Pat McTurk 52.00

Peter Ferry (Guest) 50.00
Chris McConnell 49.45

Your time is up for independent adjudication - that would give you a 9.5min gap between you and The Swan!! He only beat you by 5mins in that 20odd mile Borders thing!!
